Leaf Radish Seeds - Saisai Purple - Hybrid. Non-GMO. Raphanus sativus. 30-40 days. All season annual. The excellent flavor of this Japanese red-stemmed radish leaf will be noticed. The tender green leaves are rounded with slightly scalloped edges and are used still attached to the contrasting stem. This hybrid was developed to use as a baby leaf green. Plants are slow to bolt and can be grown year-round in milder climates. Saisai Purple is also perfect for sprouting. Distinctive for its color and flavor, Saisai Purple is a handsome and nutritious addition to a salad or stir-fry. Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in spring after last frost or in late summer/early fall in a warm, sunny location. Keep soil moist. Fertilize as needed. Used in sukiyaki, yosenabe, ohitashi, and tsukemono (pickling).
